Using belief to overcome hardship and the unknown is intriguing. It’s a powerful tool that my family exerted upon me at a young age. So, curious about the underlying mechanics, I began to investigate the reasoning, the anxiety relief, and the psychosomatic effects.
“Knock on Wood” explores superstitions, charms, and talismans. Drawings and paintings, inspired by beliefs from around the world, catalogue various actions, thoughts, and objects that attempt to relieve fear and uncertainty.
